A group of friends out for a Saturday night meal were 'gobsmacked' when they discovered another kind diner had paid their £60 bill - because they had impressed with their politeness.
Lisa McConnell, 25, had just finished a meal at the Barbican Pasta Bar with her two friends and was about to pay her bill at the bar when staff informed the trio it had already been picked up by another customer.
'We couldn't believe it when the staff told us our bill had been paid,' Lisa explained.
'We thought it was some kind of joke.
'Our bill came to more than £60 and we were just gobsmacked.
'We thought we were going to be arrested if we left without paying.
'We went to the toilets just because we were so shocked.'
Despite the girls asking the identity of their kind benefactors, staff refused to reveal who had paid the tab.
'We had no idea who had done this, or why, and the staff wouldn't say,' Lisa explained.
'As we made our way to the exit, the woman who was sat at a table next to us came over and said her husband had paid it because they had found it refreshing to see three, young women enjoying a meal and being so polite.
'She said they had been sat next to us during our meal and thought we were just a really nice, genuine group of girls that weren't loud, or swearing.
'We were just absolutely stunned and didn't really know what to say, other than thank you.'
